    Flu Treatment Questions

  • What is the flu?

Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It typically spreads through respiratory droplets when an infected person talks, coughs, or sneezes.

The flu can cause a wide range of symptoms, including fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headaches, chills, and fatigue. Although most people recover from the flu within a few days to a couple of weeks, it can lead to serious complications, such as pneumonia, especially in young children, older adults, pregnant women, and people with certain health conditions. The flu can be prevented with an annual flu vaccine and treated with antiviral medications if started early.

  • What are common flu treatment side effects?

The most common side effects of flu treatments are usually mild and may include: nausea, vomiting, upset stomach and diarrhea.

Not everyone experiences side effects from flu treatments, and most people only have mild symptoms or none at all. However, if you experience severe side effects or an allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing, swelling, or hives, you should seek medical attention immediately. It’s always best to discuss any concerns you have about side effects with your healthcare provider.

  • What is included in the consultation fee?

It includes a medical provider licensed in your state evaluating your Flu questionnaire and creating your personalized treatment plan, and writing prescriptions. The consultation fee does not include medication(s).

If medication is prescribed, your Healthvio provider will send the prescription(s) to a pharmacy of your choice. You will pay the pharmacy for the medication(s) and the price will depend on the pharmacy and whether you pay with insurance or out-of-pocket.
