Treatment list of asthma

  • Rescue Inhalers

    Quick-relief inhalers that contain bronchodilator medications that immediately open your constricted airways to help you breathe easier. Examples include: albuterol (ProAir HFA, Proventil HFA, Ventolin HFA) and levalbuterol (Xopenex HFA).

  • Preventative Inhalers

    Controller inhalers that have anti-inflammatory corticosteroid medications which reduce inflammation in the lungs to prevent an asthma attack from occurring. Examples include fluticasone (Flovent HFA), budesonide (Plumicort Flexhaler), mometasone (Asmanex Twisthaler), beclomethasone (Qvar Redihaler), and ciclesonide (Alvesco).

  • Combination Inhalers

    Combination inhalers contain both bronchodilators and steroids. Typically prescribed to those with more severe asthma symptoms to control their symptoms and prevent asthma attacks. Examples include fluticasone and salmeterol (Advair Diskus), budesonide and formoterol (Symbicort), mometasone and formoterol (Dulera), and fluticasone and vilanterol (Breo).

    How It Works

    2. Select a consultation type & a provider.

      Select if you would like a live consultation or a questionnaire based consultation. Then, choose a provider that is licensed in your state of residence that you feel will best meet your needs.

    3. Receive your prescription.

      If appropriate, the provider will send your prescription electronically to the pharmacy of your choice.

    I’m camping next weekend, so I want to be prepared with a new inhaler. Mine ran low, and I knew the campfire smoke might affect me. The Healthvio doctor was friendly and caring. We had a video call and chatted about my asthma symptoms, medical history, and the medication I usually use. She gave me a refill prescription, and I picked it up immediately.

    Asthma Treatment Questions

  • I haven’t been diagnosed with asthma before, but I think I may have it. Can I see a medical provider on healthvio?

    Unfortunately, No. To diagnose asthma medical providers use diagnostic tests like a peak flow meter test, spirometry, and other lung function tests.

  • Can I manage my asthma online?

    Yes, as long as you have been diagnosed with asthma previously and are not having trouble breathing or experiencing severe symptoms. If you are experiencing trouble breathing or severe symptoms, please go to the nearest emergency room or dial 9-1-1.

  • I already know which asthma treatment works for me, can I have Healthvio prescribe and deliver it?

    When you complete your questionnaire and share your history we will ask you to indicate which medications you’ve taken in the past. We cannot guarantee that you will receive a particular prescription. Once you submit your request for a consultation, your selected medical provider will review your health history and symptoms. They will work with you to determine the best treatment plan for you.

  • What is included in the consultation fee?

    It includes a medical provider licensed in your state evaluating your asthma questionnaire and creating your personalized treatment plan, and writing prescriptions. The consultation fee does not include medication(s).

    If medication is prescribed, your Healthvio provider will send the prescription(s) to a pharmacy of your choice. You will pay the pharmacy for the medication(s) and the price will depend on the pharmacy and whether you pay with insurance or out-of-pocket.
